Allegri: AC Milan won't panic yet

Despite suffering a 2-0 loss to Juventus, AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri has reassured his side there is no need to panic.

Claudio Marchisio scored two late goals to hand Juventus victory over AC Milan in Turin, while Milan had Kevin-Prince Boateng sent off for a second bookable offence and Marchisio notched his second in injury time.

The result lifted unbeaten Juve to the top of the standings, level on 11 points with Udinese.
Milan, on the other hand, have just five points from five games.

Allegri, speaking to his club's official website, admitted his side had made "a lot of mistakes".
The Italian said: "Juve caused us a lot of problems and we made a lot of mistakes.

"We didn't react well and we conceded when the game looked like it was finished. But the truth is they knew how to put us in difficulty. There was that half rebound at the end and we paid for it. We were definitely a bit unlucky as well.

"The main dangers came from the runs from the midfield which caused us problems, But Milan will be back, and we'll start again without panicking", he added.

Striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who missed the last three league games through injury but returned to the line-up to face his former club, added: "It was a tough game, they were better than us. The result is the right one. The were better on all levels.

"We didn't get our game together. Congratulations to them for a game well played, We'll get back to work after the international break. We've had a lot of injuries including Pato, Robinho and many others. We're as good as we were last season, that's for sure, we just need to be patient.

"When we get our rhythm back, we'll beat them all", the Swede concluded.

Sagna facing three months out

Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna is set to be sidelined until 2012 with a broken leg, according to the French Football Federation.
The right-back was stretchered from the field in Sunday's North London derby after an awkward fall and was sent to hospital for further assessment.
Arsene Wenger revealed after the 2-1 defeat at White Hart Lane that he was 'very worried' about Sagna and the extent of the problem has now become clear.
The French Football Federation say he has sustained a fractured fibula and will not return for around three months.
Sagna will therefore not be back in action until January, leaving Wenger with another headache at the back.
The Gunners have been plagued by injuries at the start of this season and have been particularly unlucky in defence.
Wenger did bring in reinforcements before the transfer deadline in the shape of Per Mertesacker and Andre Santos, but the loss of such a key player as Sagna will leave a major void.
The 28-year-old has been the regular right-back at Emirates Stadium since 2007 but Wenger may now have to put his faith in the inexperienced Carl Jenkinson, who joined Arsenal from Charlton over the summer with an eye on the long-term future.

Pakistan Cricket Board allows Shahid Afridi to play for Hampshire

Former ODI captain Shahid Afridi will finally join Hampshire next week after successful talks with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday in Islamabad.
Following an hour long meeting between Afridi and PCB chief Ijaz Butt, PCB granted the player his ‘No Objection Certificate’ (NOC).

Afridi’s lawyer Umran Khan told BBC Radio Solent that the meeting went very well and both parties had come to an amicable agreement.

He added that he had spoken to Hampshire manager, Giles White and they’re very pleased that it’s all sorted out and that Afridi, too, was very excited to finally be linking up with Hampshire and getting back to doing what he loves, which is playing cricket.

The two-week long battle between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Shahid Afridi, which moved to the Sindh High Court (SHC), is finally showing signs of truce following the former captain’s meeting with board chairman Ijaz Butt in Islamabad yesterday.

According to officials, the two met in presence of a government official to find out solution for the dispute that began with the all-rounder’s retirement from international cricket on May 31. The meeting took place on insistence of a top government official close to board’s patron-in-chief President Zardari.

While the PCB confirmed the meeting took place, it refrained from sharing details of the discussion that took place between the duo.

“The PCB confirms the meeting was held,” read the board’s media release issued hours after it was held. “The PCB will not make any further comment on the discussion at this stage.”
Withdrawal of court case
However, The Express Tribune has learnt that the discussion about an out-of-court settlement to the issue was made between Afridi and Butt.

“Afridi has agreed to withdraw his plea from court against the sanctions imposed by the PCB,” an official told The Express Tribune.

The board, irked by Afridi’s decision to confirm his retirement and the choice of words used against the board on-air, suspended his central contract and revoked all his NOCs which immediately blocked the all-rounder’s participation in England’s domestic Twenty20 tournament.

A PCB official said the all-rounder has agreed to appear before the PCB disciplinary committee, a move that he had earlier rejected.

The official added the PCB will fulfill all legal requisites into the case. “PCB’s lawyers will appear in the SHC hearing where Afridi will withdraw his case.”
Afridi can play domestic T20
However, Afridi’s participation in the event is not confirmed because he may fly to England for his stint with Hampshire if he gets the required NOC from the PCB.
